District Grand Priory of the Caribbean (South)
The Order of the Temple – the Great Priory of Scotland, is represented in the South Caribbean by the District Grand Priory of the Caribbean. The current Grand Master is The Most Eminent and Reverend Joseph Stewart Wood, BA.BD.CA.GCT.
The District Grand Priory of the Caribbean consists of five (5) Preceptories/Priories namely:
Trinidad Kilwinning No.18 – (1902) & Phoenix No.175 – (1996) in Trinidad & Tobago
Scotia No.93 – (1955) & St. Giles No.182 – (2003) in Barbados
Victory No.112 – (1968) in Guyana.
Qualifications for membership: Every Aspirant must be a Royal Arch Mason and be in good standing in his Royal Arch Chapter as well as in his Mother Lodge and has attained the age of twenty-one years. He must profess the Christian religion and be a believer in the doctrine of the Holy Trinity.
The degree is divided into two parts namely, the Order of the Temple and the Order of the Knights of Malta. Completion of both of these is essential to gain the degree.
The Order is usually referred to as the Order of the Knights Templar and is based on the exploits of the Knights Templars of Jerusalem during the Middle Ages.
